As you can see, the self-help niche is huge with almost limitless earning potential. There are thousands of sub-niches, and because personal history and experience are so important in this niche, it’s important to remember that there is room for your take on things – nobody else has exactly the same life experience and wisdom as you do, and getting into this niche is a great way to take advantage of that.
Examples of Sub-niches
As stated above, there are countless sub-niches that fall into the self-help and spirituality category. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular.
Goal Setting
This is one sub-niche I have personal experience with, because I’ve read quite a few books on this topic. Many people struggle with staying motivated and meeting goals, so any book or product that can help people stay focused and achieve what they want to achieve has the potential to do very well. A quick scan of PLR (private label rights) products reveals quite a few things that fit into this niche, such as this one. Popular goal-setting books include titles like The Secret, which tells people how to use the Laws of Attraction to attain their goals – nothing in that book was particularly new (for me, at least), but it was packaged in a way that made it extremely attractive to those who were interested in setting goals and as a result, it did very well (remember “the same, but different”?)
Time Management
This topic is closely related to goal setting, and its popularity never seems to fade. One very famous book in this sub-niche is 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, which has sold millions of copies. Like goal setting, there are quite a few PLR products that relate to time management. Products in this sub-niche may focus not only on managing your own time, but on principles of management that will help the people who work for you to manage their time more effectively as well. Because of that, there is often some cross-over between this sub-niche and goal setting, as well as some of the business-related sub-niches discussed earlier.
Persuasion
At some point in your life, there has certainly been a time when you have been frustrated at being unable to persuade someone to do something you want them to do. The art of persuasion is another perpetually popular sub-niche in this category. A popular example that pre-dates internet marketing is How to Win Friends and Influence People. There is a lot of cross-over between the topic of persuasion and the topic of dating and seduction – something we will cover in the next chapter.
Law of Attraction
As stated previously, the law of attraction is the principle behind the best-selling book The Secret. While there are some indications that this topic is waning in popularity, it is difficult to imagine that a subject that promises to help people harness the power of the universe to achieve their goals will ever really die out. A recent example is a book called Manifesting: The Secret behind the Law of Attraction.
